Ajumogobia Wants Foreign Affairs Building Ready

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Odein Ajumogobia has expressed disappointment over the slow pace of work at the permanent site of the Ministry, saying the situation negates his briefing that the work was about 80 per cent completed.
Ajumogobia, who spoke yesterday while inspecting the site in his first task as minister after his inauguration on Tuesday, therefore convened an emergency meeting with the contractor, supervisors, and technical committee of the building project, which he scheduled for today to discuss modalities on how to hasten the project.
Accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Aliyu Idi Hong, the Minister told newsmen that it is expected that the ministry would be in the building before Nigeria's Golden Jubilee celebrations in October.
Speaking to newsmen after the inspection exercise, Ajumogobia noted that he was still taking stock of the issues and challenges being  experienced by Nigeria in its international affairs, with a view on  how to tackle them.
“As we are still new here, I and my colleague, the Minister of State are taking stock of what is going on generally, and we would address you in a few days on our findings,” he said.
Chairman of the Habitat Committee, Architect Alabi Sunday, who conducted the inspection round the site, told the minister that the  project would be ready for use by the second week of September.
He noted that the delay was caused by various amendments to the work plan.
